Clean Freak in the news

Check out this article for a reference to Clean Freak in a Carolina paper (for the Cape Fear Independent Film Festival).

UPDATE: Okay everyone, I googled it, found a new working link, and am trying again. Click above and try to read it. Whether it'll really work this time is anyone's guess.

Clean Freak on IMDb

After multiple resubmissions, IMDb has finally listed Clean Freak on my IMDb page.

So -- not much to see at the moment, but here is Clean Freak's IMDb page.

ENDINGS Update

Pre-production on Endings is racing by... we have nearly all of the 30+ speaking parts cast, a lot of locations locked (or at least selected), and lots and lots still to do.

Meeting on Friday with the DP, who we just hired a couple of weeks ago, to discuss visual style as it relates to story.

Camera tests, animation tests, so much still to do...

Gold Remi

I just found out that Clean Freak won a GOLD REMI award for documentary shorts at this year's Houston Worldfest. The only higher award is the "PLATINUM REMI", so I'm not complaining!

Cape Fear

No, I'm not about to write about the 17 year old Martin Scorsese film (though I'm a fan), nor about the original 1962 film starring Gregory Peck. I'm actually posting some more festival news -- Clean Freak was just invited to screen in the Cape Fear Independent Film Festival.

Home

I got pretty lazy with the blog while at NAB -- in other words, I thought less about how I ought to be posting (but let's face it, posting twice in a week is rare for me; I'm just not that interesting, I guess).

Anyway, I'm home from NAB -- and, wow, am I exhausted! We had to get up before 5am this morning to catch a flight out of Vegas...

I was very pleased to come home and find that that lawn had been mowed. I'd been worrying about having to come home exhausted and start mowing the lawn. Lo and behold, my father-in-law had done it for me. So for some inexplicable reason, I still did yardwork (a couple of trees needed serious trimming, and my wife bought a new trimmer/clipper). So now I'm REALLY exhausted.

It was a good week in Vegas, but now I'm having to readjust to real life -- you know, things like not walking around the city at midnight...

Update from NAB

I've been a bit lazy about posting because I'm in Las Vegas right now at the National Association of Broadcasters convention (NAB). For those of you who may not know about it, it's basically a huge broadcasting and video production trade show. Our students come every year and intern for Sony and ffor the NAB itself, so we come out for the entire week-long show.

So, I've been sitting in on post-production and directing workshops as well as other tech related subjects, and of course I've been walking the trade show/expo floor to see new products, etc.

It's all inexplicably tiring. Vegas never seems to sleep. And I don't seem to sleep enough when I'm here.

And it's been a bit difficult to stay on top of pre-production while here. Not that I'm the only one working on it, of course, but I'm just not at my computer as regularly to deal with all the details.

Seattle Screening News

The fine folks at STIFF (Seattle's True Independent Film Festival) have invited Clean Freak to screen in the 2008 festival.

STIFF was one of the early fests to screen The Proper Care & Feeding of an American Messiah, so I have very fond thoughts about them! Thanks for screening my new work, guys.

There are good actors in Texas...

...and I saw several today in auditions for various roles for Endings. It was marked difference from the experience of auditioning people for my previous film. I don't know if the track record made a difference, or if we just got a better "draw" this time around, but the actors we saw today were a pretty solid bunch, and I'm fairly certain that several of them will be in Endings (if they want the roles we offer).

Pleasant surprise -- a full day of auditioning can be exhausting (and, believe me, I am exhausted), and it's really nice to come away from that day feeling like you're going to have good actors in your movie.

Clean Freak news: I just learned (right after that great day of auditions) that Clean Freak will win a "Remi Award" at the Houston WorldFest. A couple of my scripts have won awards in the past, and I'm pleased to have had one of my films win one, too. Thanks, WorldFest!

DP Hired & Auditions Today

One major production announcement. John Franklin will be the Director of Photography on Endings. We solidified a deal this week, and I'm very happy to have him on board.

Auditions for Endings start this afternoon. We'll be hunkered down for six hours today and another four tomorrow. I'm hoping to see some great people who don't mind working for a pittance (ah, the no/low budget indie film life...).
