Just like that

So I'm sitting here in this creative slump I've been dealing with for weeks, during which I haven't come up with a single idea that I'd like to pursue for a new script.

And then, out of nowhere, I have an idea this morning (5 minutes ago, actually) that has my brain working in creative overdrive. Okay, it wasn't "out of nowhere" -- I read an article online, and I crossed that article with something else, and now I have an idea.

Okay, it's not a fully formed idea. It's more like a character with a hobby that is at odds with his profession, and I have no idea where I'll take it. I have to develop it into an actual concept, but right now, I'm just pleased that I have a story idea that I can think about...

And I shouldn't really say that my brain is in creative overdrive, because I can't focus on the idea right now as I have to finish grading papers for one class and prep a lecture for another. But still...

Clean Freak on IMDb

Clean Freak has been on IMDb for a while now, but I just noticed tonight that it has finally gotten enough "ratings" for it to have an average.

Its rating right now is 9.2, which puts it higher than both Godfather films, The Dark Knight, The Shawshank Redemption, and Schindler's List.

Of course, those films have a few more ratings than mine. Clean Freak has 5 total ratings, while The Godfather has over 324,000.

But hey, I'm still rated higher, for the moment.

It's official...

...I am old. I had to buy a pair of reading glasses (like the ones pictured) tonight, because certain things are hard to focus on when up close.

The really sad part is that my distance vision has been lousy since 5th grade, and it steadily worsened up until a few years ago. So, I can't see stuff far away, and now I'm beginning to have a difficult time seeing close up.

I hope the ranges don't meet up someday.

I'm planning to one day have vision correction surgery, but my optometrist recommended waiting until the latest procedure on the horizon (permanent lens replacement)is perfected in 5-8 years. If I get LASIK now, I'll just end up needing to wear reading glasses anyway.

Balding, reading glasses. What's next?

Witty Blog Post Title

Hmmmm -- I've been a little parsimonious with the blog updates, haven't I? I just haven't had a lot to say on here. I've been in a creative rut, what with working on the rough cut of Endings (the editor is doing the actual cutting, but of course seeing the cut has put me in "creative edit" mode for the past couple of weeks, as I've been thinking of ways to fix things that don't work or make certain things work better).

All of which is normal -- I probably shouldn't be trying to write a new script while I'm enmeshed in the creative work of "rewriting" Endings in the edit room (which is, after all, what you do with a movie in post-production).

Classes continue apace -- the semester is going to be over before we know it, and I wonder if I'll feel like I accomplished enough (I never do).

I'm looking forward to a trip to Chicago at the end of the month, for the Film & History conference (where I'm chairing the Doctor Who area).

So, as you can see, I have very little to report. I want to have news; I just don't at the moment.
